If your priming tool is adjustable, make sure it is adjusted correctly. Inspect the equipment to make sure nothing is cracked or bent, and there is not interference stopping the tool from seating full depth. So you need to confirm that crimp is not your problem.Ĥ. Frankly, I don't know anyone who can tell a previously swaged pocket by looking at it. Handloader must know how to recognize crimped primer pockets and correct by swaging or reaming as necessary. Handloader must make sure pockets are clean and not damaged, and that the primers aren't out of round.ģ. It is incumbent upon the handloader to make sure that the pocket and the primer are properly sized.Ģ. These are not questions you need to answer for me, just information so you can resolve your own problem.ġ. One or more of these might NOT apply to you, this is just food for thought (assuming your brain is hungry). But if you're new, how do you know what info to provide? It's a dilemma, isn't it.īasically, there are four mechanical reasons for insufficient seating depth (after that, you have operator errors). If you aren't hungry, go do something else.
